Did you know that after the age of 50, your chance for
Colorectal Cancer increases by 90%, but did you also know that this type of
cancer is very treatable once caught at in early stage. According to the Centers for Disease Control
and Prevention, among cancers that affect both men and women, colorectal cancer
is the second leading cause of deaths in the United States.
Colorectal cancer is a cancer that is of the rectum or colon
the can show through symptoms that may include blood in or on the stool,
stomach pain, aches, or cramps that do not go away and losing weight and you
don’t know why. Precancerous polyps could also be a sign, but precancerous
polyps and colorectal cancer do not always cause symptoms. You can be screened starting
at the age of 50 and continue regular screens until the age of 75. People who
are at higher risk are those who have this type of cancer in their family,
those who suffer from inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn’s disease or ulcerative
colitis), or some types of genetic syndromes.
